More Icy News

Just having a break from cleaning the oven and tidying up around the house, so I thought you might be interested in some more icy news from Ohio - courtesy of Big Brother!
"It has been horrible here Sunday. Strong winds have been blowing the ice off the trees (where it can) so the house has been getting hit with "ice cubes" Sounds like someone throwing rocks on the roof. Has been in the single digits all day (2am now and it is 2 degrees, with a wind chill of minus 20)... and we have to work in it in a few more hours. Guess who is bundling up!!!
It was too nasty to even go to church. Ice on the roads makes driving hazardous on all but the major roads. We skidded through one intersection Saturday, almost got t-boned by a truck, ended up in the driveway across the road with another truck behind us.... lots of fun!! And we were only travelling less than 20mph.
This is some of the ice that fell off the branches and hit the house during Sunday
This is the parking lot at work. You can see the sheets of ice which are about 1/2 inch thick. There would have been more except our boss plowed it before the snow iced up.
This is the road right outside of our drive. You can see the asphalt, then the ice. Some of it is more than an inch thick. You tend to just sit and spin until you move enough, to hit an un-iced spot. In fact when I went to back into the drive tonight, I first slid across the road, then tried to reverse, but sat there spinning for about 15 seconds before getting enough traction to get up the drive."

The pictures look beautiful, but not having to live with it, of course i would think that...lol. I never think of the lack of power or the slippery {not to mention} dangerous road hazards..i think of the more 'romantic' side of it all..ha, not even close to reality..lolol..Thanks for sharing Christina.
luv Ann.xx
